Flyers Renovation Reaction

Paul Holmgren has effectively changed the face of his franchise over night.  Jeff Carter was traded to Columbus Blue Jackets for Jakub Voracek, in addition to the first and third round pick in the 2011 draft (8th and 68th overall).  Also, the captain of the Flyers, Mike Richards was dealt to the Los Angles Kings for Wanye Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, and second round pick in the 2011 draft (48th overall).  All to clear cap space for the recently aquirred Ilya Bryzgalov from Phoenix, who announced that same thursday that he and Flyers reached a nine year agreement worth $51 million.  The trading of the Flyer's captain and assistant captain imply that there may have been some issues in the dressing room, in addition to shedding salary cap.  Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek are two excellent young porspects that will fit right in with Claude Giroux, Ville Leino, James Van Riemsdyk, and Matt Carle.  Also, the collection of draft picks only leads me to believe that they will only improve, starting with the selection of Sean Couturier.
Where they excellent trades for the Flyers?  Absolutely.  Where they benifical to the existing Flyers roster?  No.  I believe that before Thursday night, the Flyers were already cup contenders.  It seems that Holmgren has put them in a rebuild situation when, frankly, they didn't need to be.  Never the less, the
Flyers now have an excellent young core and a solid goaltender, potential Vezina winner, locked for nine years.
I would like to see the Flyers deal either Chris Pronger or Kimmo Timonen for a young defense men to mesh with the existing porspects that the Flyers have, and keep the other as a veteran defensemen.  Also, I would see it necessary for them to find another younger replacement for Danny Briere.  I see the Flyers winning multiple cups in the next ten years if they go all out and replace their veterans with younger players.
