Logan Couture

As you may have noticed by my wallpaper on the blog, I am quite the Logan Couture fan.  Couture has been nominated for the Calder trophy, awarded to the top rookie in the league.  Also up for the award is Carolina Hurricane's forward Jeff Skinner and New York Islander's Michael Grabner.  I will now prove to you why Logan Couture is best rookie in league and why he deserves the award.  (Not to diminish Skinner or Grabner, I am also fans of both)  Couture's closest competitor is Skinner, so I will mainly be comparing them together.
1.  Logan Couture was 17% better on faceoffs than Jeff Skinner.
2.  Couture had a plus 18 compared to Skinner's suspect plus 3.
3.  Couture had 5 less penalty minutes.
4.  Not only did Couture have 1 more goal than Skinner, he also had 6 more game winners and 1 overtime winner.
5.  Couture had only 7 points less than Skinner while playing 3 less games due to injury.
6.  Couture also had more ice time than Skinner per game even playing behind stars Marleau, Thornton, and Heatley.
7.  Although the stats can't really prove it, except maybe the plus minus, Couture's defensive is what completely sets him apart from Skinner, whose defense is suspect.
8.  Most importantly Couture led his team to playoffs despite a point in January where the Sharks were in 12th place in the West and then leading them to the Conference finals (and maybe THE FINALS who knows?) with, at the moment of the article, 7 goals and 7 assists in 17 games.

I am going on record to predict that Logan Couture will next year score 42 goals, 75-90 points, and have a plus 25.  Breakout season, wins the MVP next year.  Solidify as one of the best centers in the league.
