It only takes one game to get back in a series sometimes and that is exactly what the Sharks have done tonight. With a convincing (although the scoreboard might not agree) game 3 win, the Sharks have evened the series 2-1 on home ice with a final score of 4 to 3.
A solid all around effort by the Sharks in my opinion, who had, at moments in the game, 2 to 4 minutes of un-interrupted zone time. For the majority of the game, the Sharks heavily out shot the men from Vancouver and controlled the tempo of the game. Two goals by Patty Marleau which got the sharks rolling in the first. At about 10 minutes into the game, the Sharks up two nothing, the game was won. The Sharks controlled the play and really didn't let the Canucks breathe until penalty trouble cost them two goals on a questionable 5 and 10 on Jamie Mcginn, I thought a 2 minute boarding or hit from behind would have been sufficient. The C's capitalized when neccesary and with a brilliant pass from, who else Henrik Sedin, which redefined the saucer pass to Danny Hamhuis. The Sharks should have signed him last free agency and this series wouldn't even be a contest (I will soon post my sharks offseason moves, since I am on the topic).
Niemi, ehh alright game I would say. In the ballpark of a B-. He makes these blow your mind saves but then lets in one my sister could save. I still believe in him and won't start blaming him for the almost blown game like many others are doing.
Lots of injuries. Scary moment when Logan Couture ran into the beast of a man Ryan Clowe behind the Canuck net. His head shot back violently and he tweaked his knee as well in the collision. He did his time in the quiet room as NHL Protocol demands. Funny, for a player to say he, "Sat in the quiet room for 15 minutes." No wonder the players hate it. Hope he is alright for game 4. Erhoff and Rome also injured during the game. Rome, on the hit from Mcginn. I don't believe that that deserved a 5 and 10, which evidently led to 2 goals by the Canucks.
I said the Sharks were done after I saw the way the Canucks strangled the Sharks in game 1 and 2. After this dominating effort in game 3, I might have been wrong.
Good game for the Sharks, can't wait for game 4.
